George Ward was born and lived in Stafford and enlisted at Lichfield. Serving with the 1st Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 10 September 1914. He died of wounds on 22 March 1915 and was buried in the Ferme Buterne Military Cemetery Nord, France. He was the brother of Mr A. W. Ward, of 1 Fancy Walk, Stafford. With copied M.I.C. showing entitlement to a clasp to his 1914 Star.
