Notes(Albert J. Black)

Albert was born in Alverstoke near Gosport and enlisted 7.1.1902 as Bugler Boy. In December 1911 he was present with the Cunard ship H.M.S. Medina to take King George V and Queen Mary to India for the Royal Visit and Delhi Durbar . He returned with the ship to Portsmouth arriving 15.2.1912. Joined the R.F.R. 5.7 1914, H.M.S. Crescent 2.8.1914 to 31.12.1914. Portsmouth 15-16, H.M.S. Magpie November 16th to 29.1.1919. Re-joined the R.F.R. L.S. & G.C. August 1924. Sold with an excellent studio photo in his smart uniform taken by W.C. Harvey of Gosport and a second in police uniform (Special Constabulary) he is missing a 1914-15 star. Paperwork when purchased had another M.I.C. for a pair to the Royal Indian Marine. A superb historical group for the Royal Visit to India.
