George Shore was born in the Parish of Radstock, near Bath, Somerset, and enlisted ‘for life’ into the 28th Foot at Fermoy, County Cork, on 18 July 1804, aged 20, a coal miner by trade. He served a total of 17 years 254 days and was discharged on 3 December 1820, in consequence of a ‘violent injury received on his foot by the fall of a large stone when employed on public fatigue duty at this Palace, with partial loss of motion, and being wounded in action’. His conduct was described as ‘good and that he was wounded in the right thigh on the 13 December 1813 at Bayonne when in action with the enemy.’
Sold with copied discharge papers and C.D. Rom with other detailed research.
