Bestowed upon BERNO KJELDSEN (1942-2013), Minister, Royal Danish Embassy, on the State visit of Queen Margarethe II and Prince Hendrik on 16 February 2000 Benro Kjeldsen, died 24th MAY 2013 aged 71.Berno Kjeldsen became cand.phil. from the University of Copenhagen in 1972 and immediately afterwards he came to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he started in the market secretariat. Then he had three years as Embassy Secretary in Paris and four years in the Middle East section of the Ministry before secondment at the NATO Representation in Brussels in 1984-1988. After that, a long period of time followed in the ministry of Copenhagen with EU duties, but also as deputy of the Minister for Nordic Cooperation in the mid-1990s. Berno Kjeldsen was second to the Embassy in London in 1997. His last two posts were Ambassador in Bratislava 2001-2005 and Zagreb 2005-2008. He retired from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2008.
